While upholding the basic principles of conservation (recording the condition of the material and method of conservation; choosing reversible, non-destructive conservation; and respecting the importance of the original), we combine a variety of treatments to suit the materials' condition and form. Even with materials of similar condition, the type of treatment will depend on the form of their future use.
